双子の兄弟であるクリス・コーツ（ギター）とヘラルト・コーツ（キーボード）を中心に、ハンス・ジーク（ベース）、トン・v.d.クレイ（ドラム）、そして女性ヴォーカリストのジャーニー・カーフマンからなり、オランダ国内で高い人気を誇った同バンドの代表作。

A面には組曲「Atlantis」を全編収録。強欲で腐敗した島の文明が、火・水・空気・大地という4つの元素によって滅びていく物語を描いている。B面にはオランダとベルギーの両国でトップ10入りを果たしたヒットシングル「Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight」に加え、バンドのメロディの幅広さと詞世界の深さを示す4曲もあわせて収録されている。

ターコイズ・カラー・ヴァイナル、歌詞カードが付属したゲートフォールドジャケット仕様となる。

Information

Released in 1973, Atlantis is the landmark prog-rock album by Dutch band Earth And Fire. Founded by twin brothers Chris (guitars) and Gerard Koerts (keyboards), with bassist Hans Ziech, drummer Ton v.d. Kleij and female vocalist Jerney Kaagman. The A-side is the full suite "Atlantis" based on the story of the greedy and corrupt island of civilization, ultimately destroyed by the four elements, fire, water, air and earth. The B-side features the single "Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Tonight" which reached top ten positions in both the Netherlands and Belgium, alongside four additional tracks that showcase the band's melodic range and lyrical depth. Atlantis is available as a limited edition on turquoise coloured vinyl, includes an insert with lyrics and is packaged in a gatefold.
