1929年ニュージャージー生まれ。ジャズのフォームに近代クラシックのハーモニーを取り入れた革新的ピアニスト。トニー・スコットらのバンドを経て1956年に初リーダー作『ニュー・ジャズ・コンセプションズ』を録音、1958年にはマイルス・デイヴィスのバンドに参加。1959年に結成したスコット・ラファロ〜ポール・モチアンとのトリオで『ポートレイト・イン・ジャズ』、『ワルツ・フォー・デビー』等を残す。ラファロを不慮の事故で亡くしたが、エディ・ゴメス、ジャック・デジョネット、マーク・ジョンソン等とのトリオで活動し、ジャズ・ピアノの可能性を大きく広げた真の巨人。1980年9月15日没。

Bill Evans (b.August 16,1929, Plainfield, New Jersey, died September 15, 1980, New York) American jazz pianist known for lush harmonies and lyrical improvisation. his joined Tony Scott quartet then he recorded his debut album “New Jazz Conceptions” in 1956. In 1958 he joined Miles Davis group then Evans was a key figure on Davis’s “Kind of Blue” (1959). Evans next formed a trio (initially with drummer Paul Motian and bassist Scott LaFaro) that was especially noted for its interplay between pianist and bassist. This group released the classic albums Portrait in Jazz (1959) and Waltz for Debby (1961), after LaFaro died, Evans keep forming his trio with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette, Marc Johnson.. Bill Evans is one of the most influential pianists of his time.

This “Immortal” has the brand new track listing, including 8 songs which was not compiled 『Consecration 1』『Consecration 2』、『The Brilliant』. last song “My Romance” is his coda, final live performance of his life.
