2001年、名門ジャズレーベル「ヴァーヴ」初の日本人女性シンガーとしてユニバーサルミュージックよりデビュー。既存のジャズの枠に捕われない幅広い表現で現在までに24枚のアルバムを発表、国内外で活動を展開する。これまでに「ジャズ・ディスク大賞」や「Billboard Japan Music Award」を始め、数々のミュージックアワードを受賞。
また音楽以外にもファッション方面のコラボレーションやプロデュース、選曲、執筆など活動は多岐に渡り、声を使ったボイス・ワークショップや子供のためのジャズワークショップの他に、アーユルヴェーダワークショップやサウンドメディテーション、ウェルネスリトリートなども開催している。
現在、ジャズのスタンダードをテーマにしたエッセイ集「ジャズを詠む」が好評発売中。2024年公開の映画『徒花-ADABANA-』の音楽監督を務める。2026年のデビュー25周年へのカウントダウン企画として、12ヶ月連続でデジタルシングルの配信が決定。その他、デジタルシングルや７inchレコードなど、定期的にリリースを続けている。

Artist Profile
Debuting in 2001 as the first Japanese female vocalist on the prestigious jazz label Verve, akiko released her debut album through Universal Music. Since then, she has continued to transcend conventional jazz boundaries, releasing 24 albums to date and performing extensively both in Japan and internationally.
Her work has been recognized with numerous music awards, including the Jazz Disc Award and the Billboard Japan Music Award. Beyond music, akiko’s creative activities span fashion collaborations and production, curation, and writing. She also leads voice-based workshops, jazz workshops for children, as well as Ayurvedic workshops, sound meditation sessions, and wellness retreats.
Her essay collection on jazz standards, Reading Jazz Standards (Jazz o Yomu), is currently well received. In 2024, she served as the music director for the feature film Adabana. As part of the countdown to her 25th debut anniversary in 2026, akiko is releasing a digital single every month over a 12-month period, alongside regular releases including digital singles and 7-inch vinyl records.
In addition to her distinctive musical and fashion sensibilities, akiko’s lifestyle and holistic approach to creativity continue to resonate with a wide and dedicated audience.

デビュー25周年に向けて展開中のセルフカバー企画より、akikoがラヴァーズロック／ラヴァーズ・レゲエという視点で再構築した2曲を収録した7インチ・アナログ盤が登場。
A面「Do You Know?」は、2002年に発表されたオリジナル・バラードのセルフカバー。
田中義人作曲、akiko作詞によるこの楽曲を、Chozen Lee and The Bang Attack、Reggae Disco Rockers などで活躍するギタリスト Yota Kobayashi がラヴァーズロック・アレンジで再構築した。
レトロな質感と、甘く切ないメロディが心地よく響き、夏にぴったりの一曲に仕上がっている。
B面「I Miss You」は、2004年の発表以来、国内外で愛され続けてきた akiko を代表する名バラード。
[Echo United] 主宰の 森俊也、ネタンダーズやピラニアンズなどで知られるギタリスト 塚本功、そして akiko による新たなセッションによって、ラヴァーズ・レゲエとして再構築された。
スカ、ロックステディ、ルーツといったジャマイカ音楽への深い造詣と、それぞれの感性が重なり合い、オリジナルとはひと味違う表情を見せている。
Information
As part of the ongoing self-cover project leading up to her 25th debut anniversary, akiko presents a 7-inch analog single featuring two songs reimagined through lovers rock and lovers reggae.
Side A, “Do You Know?”, is a self-cover of an original ballad first released in 2002.
Written by Yoshito Tanaka (music) and akiko (lyrics), the song is reconstructed in a lovers rock arrangement by guitarist Yota Kobayashi, known for his work with Chozen Lee and The Bang Attack and Reggae Disco Rockers.
The track blends a retro sonic texture with a sweet, bittersweet melody, resulting in a relaxed, summer-ready groove.
Side B, “I Miss You”, is one of akiko’s most beloved original songs, originally released in 2004 and cherished by listeners around the world.
For this release, the song is newly recorded as a lovers reggae version by akiko together with Toshiya Mori (Echo United) and guitarist Isao Tsukamoto, widely known for his work supporting artists such as The Nethandars and The Piranias.
Drawing on their deep knowledge of Jamaican music—including ska, rocksteady, and roots—and their shared musical sensibilities, the trio offers a fresh interpretation that reveals a different facet of the song.
