2001年、名門ジャズレーベル「ヴァーヴ」初の日本人女性シンガーとしてユニバーサルミュージックよりデビュー。既存のジャズの枠に捕われない幅広い表現で現在までに24枚のアルバムを発表、国内外で活動を展開する。これまでに「ジャズ・ディスク大賞」や「Billboard Japan Music Award」を始め、数々のミュージックアワードを受賞。
また音楽以外にもファッション方面のコラボレーションやプロデュース、選曲、執筆など活動は多岐に渡り、声を使ったボイス・ワークショップや子供のためのジャズワークショップの他に、アーユルヴェーダワークショップやサウンドメディテーション、ウェルネスリトリートなども開催している。
現在、ジャズのスタンダードをテーマにしたエッセイ集「ジャズを詠む」が好評発売中。2024年公開の映画『徒花-ADABANA-』の音楽監督を務める。2026年のデビュー25周年へのカウントダウン企画として、12ヶ月連続でデジタルシングルの配信が決定。その他、デジタルシングルや７inchレコードなど、定期的にリリースを続けている。

Debuting in 2001 as the first Japanese female vocalist on the prestigious jazz label Verve, akiko released her debut album through Universal Music. Since then, she has continued to transcend conventional jazz boundaries, releasing 24 albums to date and performing extensively both in Japan and internationally.
Her work has been recognized with numerous music awards, including the Jazz Disc Award and the Billboard Japan Music Award. Beyond music, akiko’s creative activities span fashion collaborations and production, curation, and writing. She also leads voice-based workshops, jazz workshops for children, as well as Ayurvedic workshops, sound meditation sessions, and wellness retreats.
Her essay collection on jazz standards, Reading Jazz Standards (Jazz o Yomu), is currently well received. In 2024, she served as the music director for the feature film Adabana. As part of the countdown to her 25th debut anniversary in 2026, akiko is releasing a digital single every month over a 12-month period, alongside regular releases including digital singles and 7-inch vinyl records.
In addition to her distinctive musical and fashion sensibilities, akiko’s lifestyle and holistic approach to creativity continue to resonate with a wide and dedicated audience.

A面「女の子の憂鬱（2025 Mix）」は、akikoにとって珍しい日本語歌詞・日本語歌唱によるポップ・チューン。
中塚武のサウンドが彩るこの楽曲は、2016年にリリースされたデビュー15周年記念特別盤にのみ収録され、これまでライブでも披露されることのなかった一曲だ。
2025年、新たにヴォーカルをレコーディングし再ミックスを施すことで、洒脱で軽やかなポップ・アレンジと、“気まぐれでロマンティックな女の子の心模様”を描いた歌詞の魅力が、よりクリアで立体的に浮かび上がる。
ジャズの洗練やユーモア、どこか懐かしさを纏ったメロディは、現代のシティポップ的感覚とも響き合う。
B面「A Little Bruise」は、2007年にアート・リンゼイとブラジルで制作された楽曲を、今回新たにソロ・ヴァージョンとして再構築。
akiko作曲、アートのウィットに富んだ歌詞が印象的なこの曲は、軽快なブラジリアン・サンバにLo-Fiな質感を加え、洒落たキュートさとリラックスしたムードが共存する仕上がりとなっている。
シェーカーの心地よい揺らぎが印象的で、夏の朝や昼下がり、カフェタイムやドライブにも自然に寄り添う。Chill BossaやLo-Fi Jazzのプレイリストにもフィットする、軽やかで洗練された一曲。

This release pairs two distinctive tracks that stand out within akiko’s diverse body of work.
Side A, “Onna no Ko no Yūutsu (A Girl’s Melancholy) – 2025 Mix,” is a rare pop tune for akiko, featuring lyrics sung entirely in Japanese—an uncommon approach for the artist.
Colored by the sound of Takeshi Nakatsuka, the song was originally included only in a special 15th anniversary release in 2016 and had never been performed live.
For the 2025 Mix, akiko re-recorded the vocals and revisited the mix, bringing greater clarity and depth while preserving the song’s playful, romantic portrayal of a girl’s whimsical emotions.
Its stylish pop arrangement, subtle humor, and faint nostalgia resonate naturally with contemporary city pop sensibilities.
Side B, “A Little Bruise,” was originally created in Brazil in 2007 with Arto Lindsay and is newly reimagined here as a solo version.
Composed by akiko with witty lyrics by Arto, the track blends lively Brazilian samba rhythms with a lo-fi texture, balancing relaxed charm and refined cuteness.
The gentle sway of the shaker and the easy groove make it an ideal companion for summer mornings, afternoon drives, or café listening, fitting seamlessly into Chill Bossa and Lo-Fi Jazz playlists.
