Don Telling’s Island Mysteries was formed in 1992 by rogue oceanographers, enthusiastic ethnomusicologists, and reluctant bandleader Don Telling. As of January 2021, Quintet (five members) includes Ned Brownlow (percussion, bird calls), Scott Thompson (piano, accordion, theremin, koto, oud, insect sound), Davey Blackburn (percussion, leaf sound), Bo White (bass, nuances of mammals), Tyler Baum (slide guitar, furniture repair)Music Produced, Arranged, Mixed and Performed by Don Telling with B. The debut album of Don Telling’s and Island Mysteries, which is one of the few private presses but has been talked about by the fans of Exotica music all over the world, is finally an official Japan reissue! 2022 remastered, it features the 180g heavyweight vinyl with a classic-style PP coated jacket! DTIM's bandleader DON TELLING is known for his multi-faceted activities such as international trade, bandleaders, ocean researchers, and talent/model scouts, often gathering members to secretly gig. The first album released in 2008, this work is Exotica Classic Quiet Village, Sukiyaki (Let's walk upward) known for the world hit of Kyu Sakamoto familiar to Japanese, An exotica classic Miserlou and As the name suggests, it is a mysterious album with a gentle tropical feeling that contains all 10 songs including a cover of Bali Ha'i.
